‘Islamist’ Gunman Kills 50 at Orlando Gay Club
by Jason Ditz, June 12, 2016

The worst terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11 took place overnight in Orlando, Florida, where 29-year-old Omar Mateen attacked a crowded gay nightclub with an assault rifle and a handgun, killing at least 50 people and wounding 53 others in a multi-hour attack.

The shooting began at 2:02 am, after last-call at the nightclub, Pulse, getting into a gunfight with an off-duty police officer working at the club. A hostage situation quickly developed, and it wasn’t until around 5:00 am that the police finally smashed down a door, freeing dozens of hostages and killing Mateen.

In the morning following the attack, a call went out for blood donations, and in short order, the blood banks were swamped with donors. By evening, the blood banks reported being “at capacity,” and urged others to wait a few days before coming to donate.

The gunman, Omar Mateen, was identified as a New York City-born son of Afghan immigrants, who had worked for UK-based security contractor G4S since 2007. He had been working as a security guard in the Port St. Lucie, Florida courthouse.

The FBI reported Mateen was “on the radar” for them. He had been interviewed by them twice in 2013 over “inflammatory comments to coworker alleging possible terrorist ties,” and was contacted again in 2014 regarding claims he had ties with an American suicide bomber. Co-workers described him as unstable, with one saying he “talked about killing people all the time.”

Mateen is further described by other coworkers as prone to using racial, ethnic, and sexual slurs, and seemed to be in “constant anger.” One co-worker, identified as Daniel Gilroy, said he wasn’t surprised by the shooting and that “I saw it coming.”

The FBI didn’t see it coming, said they determined at after his contacts that he was not a threat, and he reportedly was on the terror watchlist, though he had been removed from the list at some point. His work as a security guard gave him easier access to legally buying weapons.

Reports following the shooting suggest Mateen called 911 amid his attack, and officials say that during the call he indicated his allegiance to ISIS. ISIS has since claimedresponsibility for the attack, though this is seen as unlikely, and the going theory is that Mateen was simply ISIS-inspired as opposed to an active member.

Orlando Shooter Called 911 to Pledge Allegiance to ISIS

GRIEF-STRICKEN MOTHER, Christine Leinonen
Her last message to her missing son in the club: “Chris, I love you . . . “

June 12, 2016 “Information Clearing House” – “NBCNews” —  The gunman who opened fire at a gay Florida nightclub early Sunday, shooting over 100 people, had called 911 moments before to pledge allegiance to the leader of ISIS, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

But as investigators try to determine if extremism motivated Omar Mateen, 29, to attack the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, his family believes he was pushed over the edge by pure hate against the LGBT community.

Various law enforcement officials have identified the shooter as Mateen, who was born in New York and lived in Port St. Lucie on Florida’s eastern shores.

The attack, which claimed at least 50 lives, is considered the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. While authorities are still investigating what motivated the gunman, the shooting is being considered an act of terrorism.

Mateen, who was carrying a handgun and AR-15-type rifle, died after a SWAT team stormed the club, police said. The shooter, who worked in security, according to the family, had active security officer and firearms licenses, records show.

Records also show he had filed a petition for a name change in 2006 from Omar Mir Seddique to Omar Mir Seddique Mateen.

Because of his name and heritage, there were immediate questions about Mateen’s possible ties to Islamic fundamentalism — but his father said it may have been a recent incident involving two men showing each other affection that set the gunman off.

“We were in Downtown Miami, Bayside, people were playing music. And he saw two men kissing each other in front of his wife and kid and he got very angry,” Mir Seddique, told NBC News on Sunday. “They were kissing each other and touching each other and he said, ‘Look at that. In front of my son they are doing that.’ And then we were in the men’s bathroom and men were kissing each other.”

“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident,” Seddique said. “We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country.”

Seddique added, “This had nothing to do with religion.”

Driving the point home that religion was a consideration in the mind of investigators, at a 10:30 a.m. news conference Saturday, officials brought a member of the Muslim community to speak.

Police did not explicitly say Mateen was Muslim, but Islamic groups put out statements against the carnage.

“We condemn this monstrous attack and offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed or injured. The Muslim community joins our fellow Americans in repudiating anyone or any group that would claim to justify or excuse such an appalling act of violence,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations Orlando Regional Coordinator Rasha Mubarak said in a statement.

Seddique said Mateen was a husband and father to a 3-year-old son. The family’s home in Port St. Lucie is less than two hours south of Orlando.

He worked in security and had attended Indian River State College, where he got an associate’s degree in criminal justice, his father added.

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., whose district includes the area of the massacre, suggested to reporters that “more likely than not” the shooting spree at the nightclub was ideologically motivated.

“Let me put it this way,” he said, “the nationality of family members is indicative.”

The family’s background was not immediately clear, but Grayson said Mateen was a U.S. citizen

 The Orlando Horror

POPE FRANCIS, HORRIFIED AT ORLANDO SHOOTING

“The terrible massacre that has taken place in Orlando, with its dreadfully high number of innocent victims, has caused in Pope Francis, and in all of us, the deepest feelings of horror and condemnation, of pain and turmoil before this new manifestation of homicidal folly and senseless hatred,” the Holy See Press Office said in a statement.

As I write this (it’s Sunday morning, 5:00 a.m. PST) the news is breaking that an Orlando gay nightclub has been attacked by a gun-wielding 29-year-old son of Afghan immigrants, Omar Mateen, who appeared to “’have leanings towards’ radical Islamist ideology,” according to the FBI.” At least twenty people are dead, and forty-two are wounded. Mateen died in a gun battle with police.

One can easily imagine what will be – and already is – happening in the wake of this horrific tragedy: the War Party will be quick to jump on this as proof that we must go abroad in search of monsters to destroy, and carry on the endless “war on terrorism” to the very ends of the earth. Donald Trump’s followers will be quick to pounce on this as evidence that their surrealist program of not allowing Muslims into the country must be implemented immediately: it doesn’t occur to them that they are already here – and they aren’t going anywhere.

Although Mateen’s parents came from Afghanistan, he was born here in 1986 and was an American citizen. Unless Trump and his followers are saying we have to deport all Muslims – a proposal that not even The Donald has floated – Trumpism appears to offer no solutions. The San Bernardino shooter was also an American citizen, born and raised here. And as I have pointed out before, there is no way to establish a religious test for entry into the US for the simple reason that there is no way to tell who is a Muslim: does it really need to be said that a potential terrorist isn’t going to answer truthfully?

We don’t yet know what Mateen’s motives were: his father, interviewed by NBC News, says he was angered by seeing two men kissing in Miami recently. That may or may not have anything to do with his religious beliefs; and yet even if the sight of two men kissing did violate the gunman’s religious sensibility to the point that it sparked the worst mass shooting in American history, in the end it matters not at all. The US has a little over 3 million Muslims within its borders, most of them citizens. This isn’t going to change. And the idea that “fifty percent” of them “want to replace the Constitution with sharia law,” as one Fox News “expert” asserted on television hours after the shooting, is just making stuff up.

Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, is a political figure of some note in Afghanistan, or at least in the Afghan diaspora. Although a US resident, and apparently a citizen, he is a declared candidate for the Afghan presidency. His party, known as “Durand Jirga,” recently merged with the “Greater Afghanistan” movement, and demonstrated in front of NATO headquarters calling for “heavy armaments” for the Afghan military and sanctions on Pakistan. Candidate Mateen regularly denounces Pakistan, and claimsthat the Northwest Frontier Province – source of much of the radical Islamist activity in the region – really belongs to Afghanistan and must be returned. This piece in theWashington Post asserts that Seddique Mateen is pro-Taliban, but that is very likely a misconception: his politics are pretty clear if we look at this photo taken at a demonstration in Washington, D.C., in which he stands in front of a poster proclaiming “Long live the USA! Long live Afghanistan!”

If Mateen was in any way influenced by his father’s political views, it’s doubtful he was sympathetic to ISIS, the Taliban, or any other Islamist group. His ex-wife says he wasn’t particularly religious.

We are now hearing that Mateen was “on the radar” of law enforcement “for some time,” although what this means exactly is not at all clear. Apparently Mateen was “well-organized and well-prepared,” which raises the as yet unproven possibility that he may have had international connections. There are reports that Omar Mateenpledged allegiance to ISIS, possibly during the shooting, as well as in a 911 call made the night of the shooting. NBC is reporting that he referenced the Tsarnaev brothersduring the shooting.

If Mateen was “on the radar,” then this suggests a situation similar to the pre-9/11 warnings of impending disaster – which were ignored or downplayed by the authorities for reasons best known to themselves. George W. Bush ignored repeated warnings in the months prior to the 9/11 attacks that indicated al-Qaeda was actively pursuing plans to strike at the US. FBI agents received pertinent information that never made it up the pipeline.

There is no doubt that the War Party is going to make the case that this incident means we have to launch new attacks in the Middle East in order to wipe out the terrorist base established by ISIS. And yet given what we know about Mateen, this make absolutely no sense – for even if we nuked ISIS tomorrow, and even if Mateen was motivated by their ideology, you can’t kill an ideology with bombs. As Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Chapman put it: “Fighting the terrorists there so we don’t have to fight them here doesn’t seem to be working too well.”

Americans like instant solutions, and they inevitably turn to government for easy answers. Yet there are none: indeed, there may not even be difficult answers. The United States is a multinational, multicultural empire: this is simply a fact of reality that has been true since the end of World War II. And there is no way to go back in time and repeal that reality.

What this means is that we are going to have to live with this – the probability of future horrific attacks equal to if not worse than the Orlando incident – for the indefinite future. This is the new normal, and it will persist regardless of how many Muslim countries we level to the ground and no matter how high we build our walls. And it is sheer fantasy to imagine otherwise.

This is grim news indeed, but I’m pledged to telling my readers the unmitigated truth, no matter how hard it is. My hope is that the country will not succumb to mindless demagoguery and simplistic non-solutions that will only make the problem worse.

After all these years, we are still feeling the aftershocks of 9/11, and they will continue for quite some time. The task of libertarians and other advocates of civil liberties and a noninterventionist foreign policy is to resist the forces of unreason to the best of our ability, without hesitation or compromise – no matter which way the winds of public opinion are blowing – while still defending the security of the country and its citizens.

UPDATEISIS is now taking responsibility for the Orlando attack through its news agency Amaq. Whether this is just an opportunistic attempt to claim credit, or not, remains to be seen, but in any case the above still applies. Fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here doesn’t look like a particularly effective plan.

SECOND UPDATE: As more information comes out, it turns out that they interviewed Mateen on no less than three occasions: twice over alleged “inflammatory remarks” he made to co-workers, and once in connection with his links to Moner Mohammad Abusalha, who lived thirty miles from Mateen and attended the same mosque.

For almost a decade, Mateen worked for G4S Security, a British-based multinational private security agency that often does work for the US government. He was interviewed in 2013 “when he made inflammatory remarks to coworkers alleging possible terrorist ties.” This may be what a former co-worker, Daniel Gilroy, is talking about when he tells the local Florida media:

“Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce Police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer G4S Security several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim. Gilroy quit after he said Mateen began stalking him via multiple text messages – 20 or 30 a day. He also sent Gilroy 13 to 15 phone messages a day, he said.

“’I quit because everything he said was toxic,’ Gilroy said Sunday, ‘and the company wouldn’t do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people.’”

However, the Wall Street Journal reports that the FBI says that “ultimately, we were unable to verify the substance of his comments and the investigation was closed.”

The third interview occurred in 2014, when Mateen was suspected of being in contact with Moner Mohammad Abusalha, the American suicide bomber who had traveled to Syria and joined Jabhat al-Nusra the al-Qaeda affiliate, and returned to America before he blew himself up. The FBI interviewed Mateen, and concluded that his contact with Abusalha had been “minimal.”

So there were all these warning signs – which were summarily dismissed. It’s clear that the Florida office of the FBI with jurisdiction over was too busy entrapping a mentally challenged homeless Miami man to competently deal with an actual terrorist.

  1. Check out the Stephanopoulos interview with the “grieving mother” whose son was a “victim”

Christ, this f***ing clowns can’t even find any good actors anymore? I guess they’re all in Hollywierd being bad actors there.

    Smile for the cameras, Omar!

    1. I await with bated breathe to see how Pat [ and Henry Makow ] will SPIN the Orlando shooting in such a way as to implicate “drumpf” as being behind it. I’m sure the TWO will manage to figure out how to SPIN Orlando to make “drumpf” “look” “like” “a Nazi”. The TWO always manage to put a SPIN on “drumpf” which always turns out to be a lot of fun to watch how the TWO scurry onto the flimsiest limbs of the trees like squirrels so tree agile, so gymnastic, and the squirrels never fall flat on their squirrel faces. I had a woman in joo jerk shitty once say to me, she said it while she was looking real smug with herself, she was wearing a fur coat. She said, “Men are rats”. I said, “Yeah, well women are squirrels”. She said “What is that supposed to mean?”. I said, “Squirrels are rats with fur coats on. It’s true squirrels are kinda cute whiddle varmints, but still, squirrels are in the rodent family. If you know what I mean.

      1. OK, TROJ… Await no longer… You can have back your ‘unabated’ breath, now… tossing the ‘bated’ one. Now you can have it back and breathe in your normal hyperventilated fashion, since your writing reflects your breathing in hyperventilated fashion every time you write a comment… hyperventilating 🙂 …. Even a simple comment reflects hyperventilation, repetitively, when you comment here on DM every time… repeating over and over and over and over. “#9-#9-#9-#9…” on ‘White Album’… or ‘Sgt Pep’… I forget…. Not ‘Yalla Sub’or “Abbey R’ for sure..
So you can now catch a clue about and even some more… how I and, possibly, Henry, might well “SPIN”… and position the ‘Dump guy’ in the cross hairs of blame… by spinning the web of blame all over and around the ‘Dump guy’ …. just because he knocked off Florida’s Jeb Bush, knocking him off the limb… flat on his face…. No squirrel, he. No fur… the clue, that… If the ‘Dump guy’ had NOT knocked off Jeb, not a squirrel… No fur, some leaves…. off the Republican branch… the Orlando ‘Pride’ rats… not squirrels… but some with fur.. would be fine today.!!

        Howzatt??? for political insight 🙂

    2. Evidence of other shooters is easily deduced via the dozens of phones, etc. which were running and recording, during the massacre. Don’t even need video, audio alone will suffice.
Weapon(s) firing ‘full-auto’ are unmistakable. So too different calibers, and even different weapons firing identical ammo make their very own unique sounds.
Elementary stuff for any professional, what to say of an expert.

There must have been dozens of recordings. If these are suppressed to the point of paranoid avoidance and denial, it will be obvious the M$M doesn’t even want to know. Just like the (cops gone wild) biker massacre in Waco a few months ago.

  2. Yes Pat, And my ALL-TIME FAVORITE ONE, Pat, Is “Yellow Submarine”. In that ditty composed by Tavistock for their Fabian Society’s ancient Egyptian “sacred” scarab Beatles, we see clearly Tavistock, in other words, The Establishment’s Matrix System , we see clearly The New Age New World Order Establishment throws out a clue to us that the Earth is really FLAT with a Firmament all around us. In other words, the Earth is FLAT and the Universe GEOCENTRIC. It’s ALL in the ancient Egyptian scarab beetle’s ditty. Let those who have ears, hear The Ditty!

I just LERV clues, don’t you? Finding the clues is challenging enough as it is, then yet another challenge! Figuring out what The Clues mean. Finding Clues is truly something Serendipitous! And Deciphering the Clues is so much fun!

  3. “The worst terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11 took place overnight in Orlando, Florida, where 29-year-old Omar Mateen attacked a crowded gay nightclub with an assault rifle and a handgun, killing at least 50 people and wounding 53 others in a multi-hour attack.”

And yet again, another false flag attack, with proven crisis actors and of course, it’s Joe Public, not Mr Politician who’s whacked by Islamic terrorists..yawn….

““The terrible massacre that has taken place in Orlando, with its dreadfully high number of innocent victims, has caused in Pope Francis, and in all of us, the deepest feelings of horror and condemnation, of pain and turmoil before this new manifestation of homicidal folly and senseless hatred,””

And yet again, the pope grieves for everyone other than Palestinians, being murdered daily by the Jews, whom he shakes hands with as he lives it up in Israel. Nope, no condemnation of the Yids, but sympathy for the Sodomites. Interesting, but did God not destroy a couple of cities for sodomy and other perversions way, way back in the past? Not that I call for the death of anyone, but really, is this not supposed to be the man who promotes God’s will? Does the bible not state specifically that man should not lie with man, nor woman, woman? I mean, does the job description of ‘pope’ not mean doing God’s will on earth?

    Now let’s see…..

MUSLIM gunman kills homosexuals, thereby promoting Trump’s anti Islam policy even more, yet also promoting democrats’ gun control at the same time, as well as sympathy for the persecuted LGBT community and let us not also forget, more hatred for Islam? Ooooo goody, yet more divide and conquer with the traditionalists and the progressives to be fought on the streets of America, as the puppet masters laugh at their latest debacle.

Seriously, it’s been ten years now that I’ve been away from the TV and the rest of the msm and life is like watching the Emperor parade down the street naked, being the only one who actually sees he’s stark, bollox, naked!
The only thing that’s worse about the shooting of ‘x’ amount of people, whether it happened or didn’t is that guaranteed, the overwhelming majority of people will not even contemplate that it was a false flag, psy-op. Old Pavlov would certainly be proud of the new breed of puppies, called the human, world population.
