Trump and European leaders expel more than 100 Russian diplomats in response to spy poisoning

The Independent

WASHINGTON: The United States ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats and the shuttering of the Russian consulate in Seattle in response to Moscow’s suspected involvement in the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in England, AP news reported on Monday.

Sixteen EU countries including Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland also expelled envoys, alongside Canada, Ukraine, Norway and Albania.

In the sternest move yet against Russia since he became President, Donald Trump’s White House said it was working with Nato allies to punish Russia for its suspected poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia and the “unacceptably high” number of Russian spies in the US.

The European Council president Donald Tusk meanwhile said the bloc’s expulsions were a “direct follow-up to last week’s European Council decision” in which it “condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the recent attack in Salisbury”.

The White House said in a statement: “The United States takes this action in conjunction with our Nato allies and partners around the world in response to Russia’s use of a military-grade chemical weapon on the soil of the United Kingdom, the latest in its ongoing pattern of destabilising activities around the world.

“Today’s actions make the United States safer by reducing Russia’s ability to spy on Americans and to conduct covert operations that threaten America’s national security. With these steps, the United States and our allies and partners make clear to Russia that its actions have consequences.”

It added: “The United States stands ready to cooperate to build a better relationship with Russia, but this can only happen with a change in the Russian government’s behaviour.”

Mr Trump has been criticised over a telephone call with Vladimir Putin, during which he ignored advice from his officials and congratulated the Russian leader on his recent election victory. He also failed to raise Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 election and the Salisbury poisoning.

Theresa May has previously said that it was “highly likely” Russia was responsible for the poisoning of Mr Skripal and his daughter. The couple remain in a critical condition in hospital. The Prime Minister yesterday told the Commons that more than 130 people could have been exposed to the novichok nerve agent and that 50 people were assessed in hospital.

According to Reuters, senior Trump administration officials said all 60 Russians were spies working in the US under diplomatic cover, including a dozen at Russia’s mission to the UN in New York.

The expelled Russians will have seven days to leave the US, said the officials. They added that the Seattle consulate is a counter-intelligence concern because of its proximity to a US Navy base.

The US actions came as more than a dozen nations, including those in Russia’s neighbourhood, either announced, or were expected to announce similar steps. Poland summoned Russia’s ambassador for talks and its foreign ministry was among several in Europe planning news conferences.

In a “special announcement” to reporters on Monday afternoon European Council president Mr Tusk confirmed that EU countries were taking “common” measures to expel Russian diplomats.

Ukraine, which is not a member of the EU, also separately announced it would kick out 13 diplomats, alongside Albania and Canada.

Mr Tusk said more measures – including further expulsions – could follow in the coming days and weeks. He reiterated that the “European Council agreed with the United Kingdom Government’s assessment that it is highly likely that the Russian federation is responsible and that there is no plausible alternative explanation.”

Germany, France and Poland, Lithuania, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the Czech Republic are among EU member states expelling officials.

“We decided to recall the EU ambassador to Russia for consultations. As a direct follow-up to last week’s European Council decision to react to Russia within a common framework, already today 14 member states have decided to expel Russian diplomats,” Mr Tusk said. Several other EU states added their names to the list on Monday.

He added: “Additional measures including further expulsions within the common EU framework are not to be excluded in the coming days and weeks.”

A spokesman for the Kremlin said the decision to expel the Russian diplomats was a mistake. He added that Mr Putin would make the final decision over his country’s response to the measures.

Britain has already expelled 23 Russian diplomats, accusing them of being undeclared intelligence agents, which led Russia to expel the same number of British diplomats. The European Union has already recalled its ambassador to Russia.

  1. Damn! Trump is beginning to show his true colors! The same (((assholes))) (England) who dragged us into WW2 seem to be dragging us into conflict with Russia (who seems to be rising above their Bolshevik demeanor).
The United States is now (((their))) target country, and we’d better damn well consider the lessons of history…
Don’t worry about “nukes”. Worry about the enemy within! 😠

    1. I’ll go farther and say it’s simply fake news. No poisoning. Nothing happened! Like nothing happened on August 4, 1964 aka the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” which is now admitted by the Jews themselves at Wikipedia:

It was originally claimed by the National Security Agency that a Second Gulf of Tonkin incident occurred on August 4, 1964, as another sea battle, but instead evidence was found of “Tonkin ghosts”[7] (false radar images) and not actual North Vietnamese torpedo boats. In the 2003 documentary The Fog of War, the former United States Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara admitted that the August 2 USS Maddox attack happened with no Defense Department response, but the August 4 Gulf of Tonkin attack never happened.[8] In 1995, McNamara met with former Vietnam People’s Army General Võ Nguyên Giáp to ask what happened on August 4, 1964 in the second Gulf of Tonkin Incident. “Absolutely nothing”, Giáp replied.[9] Giáp claimed that the attack had been imaginary.[10]

The outcome of these two incidents was the passage by Congress of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which granted President Lyndon B. Johnson the authority to assist any Southeast Asian country whose government was considered to be jeopardized by “communist aggression”. The resolution served as Johnson’s legal justification for deploying U.S. conventional forces and the commencement of open warfare against North Vietnam.

In 2005, an internal National Security Agency historical study was declassified; it concluded that Maddox had engaged the North Vietnamese Navy on August 2, but that there were no North Vietnamese naval vessels present during the incident of August 4. The report stated, regarding the first incident on August 2, that “at 1500G,[note 1] Captain Herrick ordered Ogier’s gun crews to open fire if the boats approached within ten thousand yards. At about 1505G, Maddox fired three rounds to warn off the communist boats. This initial action was never reported by the Johnson administration, which insisted that the Vietnamese boats fired first.”[5]

      Mazel Tov!

      1. Yes it is possible that no chemical attack happened at all and that Skripal and his daughter are simply pretending. After all, as a double spy he has worked for the British before.

  2. I claim that a Brit lab could have made the poison and blamed ‘Put-On’ this time.

“Chemical that poisoned Sergei Skripal and daughter in Salisbury originates from – SHIKHANY – says Hamish de Bretton-Gordon”

    He admits:
SHIKHANY is the Russian equivalent of the UK’s – Porton Down – home to various military research facilities that specialise in radiation, CHEMICAL and other weaponry.

Bretton-Gordon, a former commander of the now disbanded UK Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear regiment and its Nato equivalent…..

  3. The Skripal attack was probably done by MI6 and the MOSSAD and the CIA, it was not done by Russia and this attack was probably planned by NATOs OPERATION GLADIO, which is behind the terror attacks in Europe and has been doing terror attacks in Europe for decades.

This demonization of Russia is a prelude to war with Russia that will destroy both the U.S. and Russia, this is what the satanic Zionists want.

    1. If they really want a war with Russia we would have seen a mass mobilization of NATO troops already, both in the US and in Europe. What is more likely is a new cold war by artificially creating tensions and further sanctions against Russia.

The alliance of Russia with China (and Iran) worries the Zionists, who see their “Destroy-Syria-Project” failed and the Globalists, who see their “Grand Chessboard Project”*) in Eurasia threatened. The US cannot afford the risk of a nuclear war with Russia and China. It cannot even afford the risk such a war with North Korea.

*) For the “Grand Chessboard Project” see :…within…grand-chessboard…/5478763

      1. Understood, however it is my belief that the Zionist neocons believe that they can win a nuclear war and they are evil enough to risk it. With what the Zionists did to Russia ie killing an estimated 56 to 60 million Russians under their communist regime, I can see them perpetrating a nuclear war and they will go into their DUMBs and wait it out.

        Hope I am wrong.

Fake sanctions and the resultant ‘real’ black markets allow Russia’s ‘Put-On’ and his oligarchs to pocket more OFF-BOOKS profits. 🙂

US Treasury Department Issues Anticipated List of Russian Parties, Pursuant to Recent Legislation

Treasury Department Report identifies 114 senior political figures and 96 oligarchs, and confirms that the Report is – NOT – a sanctions list

On January 29, 2018, the Treasury Department submitted a report to the US Congress (the Report), as required by Section 241 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA). President Trump signed CAATSA into law on August 2, 2017. Section 241 requires the US Treasury Secretary, in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the US Secretary of State, to submit a detailed report within 180 days of CAATSA’s enactment to the appropriate congressional committees on senior political figures and oligarchs in the Russian Federation, as determined by their “closeness to the Russian regime” and their net worth, and on Russian parastatal entities.

      3. @ Franklin

“If they really want a war with Russia we would have seen a mass mobilization of NATO troops already, both in the US and in Europe.”

I think they realize that an invasion of Russia would be suicide. Their first plan may have been to intimidate Russia by surrounding it with hostile puppet governments, NATO military assets and of course the so-called “missile defense system”, which would theoretically undermine Russia’s nuclear deterrent, and give the beast a nuclear first strike capability.

And then, once they had everything in place they could say to Russia: Okay, you’re surrounded, and we can nuke you anytime we feel like it, so are you ready to give up now, cede your sovereignty, disarm and start taking orders from the beast?

But that plan has apparently failed, miserably. They wasted billions on a useless missile defense system which has no hope of stopping Russia’s latest weapons (and I think the beast is also having serious technical problems with the latest variant of the SM-3 missile).

So what now for the increasingly desperate beast? Perhaps the beast will try a nuclear first strike before Russia can deploy the remainder of its latest weapons?

      4. Russia Insider says there are some leading German politicians that aren’t going along with the Jewish led Anglo-American Russia bashing and some other European countries agree. But more are needed.

“Left Party European policy spokesman Andrej Hunko thanked on Twitter “the EU-States Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Ireland, Luxemburg, Malta, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and Cyprus” for “not following the irresponsible course of expelling Russian ambassadors without evidence.””

The Americans still have the most political clout in Europe and other EU countries with historical grudges against Russia need to stop doing things against their own interests. The Germans are still not ready to stand up to the Anglo-Americans, but if they did, I think the Anglo-Americans would think twice before spewing such lies. There is no proof Russia killed these people. None. And Trump is a disappointment. He continually backs away from what he said in the campaign. He should approach the European leaders that oppose these lies and stand on a stage with them and say he won’t go along with British liars and demand proof that Russia did this. Britain’s opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn feels the same way and would probably join them. A Right-Left alliance against Anglo-American liars. It’s in Europe’s best interest to have peace with Russia.

I look forward to the day when Europe will stand up against the US and stand up for its own interests.

  4. I believe that the hysterical demonization and provocations against Russia can only be properly explained in a spiritual context.

    (13) You said in your heart,
    “I will ascend to the heavens;
    I will raise my throne
    above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[b]
    (14) I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High” (Isaiah 14:13,14).

If Satan’s kingdom on earth is to be established as per Isaiah 14:13,14, then the beast (first beast of Rev 13, the Satanic cult which made the deal with Satan that Jesus rejected), i.e., Satan’s agent in the physical realm, must destroy all “goodness” on earth and replace it with evil, chaos, perversion, darkness, etc.

Only when all “goodness” has been wiped out, and there is nothing “good” which can make “evil” look “bad” by comparison, can Satan’s throne be “[raised] above the stars of God.”

By his reckless actions, it seems our “president” is a willing receptacle of evil who holds the political office which is apparently described in the Bible as the second beast of Rev 13:11, i.e., the “beast from the earth” (aka the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8). As such, our “president” is a loyal servant of Satan and his agent, the first “beast” of Rev 13.

Russia is experiencing a Christian spiritual revival:

Thus Russia has become an example of “goodness” that the beast simply cannot tolerate.

Unfortunately it seems clear to me by now that our “president”, “president” Trump, is willing to destroy us (and the rest of the world for that matter), in pursuit of the futile attempt to bring about the beast’s Satanic goal of wiping out “goodness” everywhere on earth, notably including Russia.

The beast has already tried everything under the sun short of war to destroy Russia, and so far everything has failed (in fact the beast’s efforts have only made Russia stronger).

I believe that Donald Trump is the beast’s puppet ruler of last resort. That is, I believe the beast knows it is going down, it is accordingly desperate, and Donald Trump was chosen to present an ultimatum to Russia, which comes in the form of a series of ever more egregious provocations.

    1. Agree, Trump is a Zionist controlled puppet and is going to take America into war in the Mideast and this will be a Zionist sacrifice to their master Satan.

  5. Tweedle Demon and Tweedle Duh — full disclosure, I voted for NOBODY for POTUS 2016. And, nobody won!

I suspect subterfuge, 5D chess (NOT played by POTUS!), and a subtle herding of many different masses to the slaughter houses, numbered 666 and greater. (((They))) have demonstrable shills, skills, and talents, the last-mentioned, interest-bearing resource manufactured from nothing, a near-GODly creation, therefore!

I expect no world war, neither planetary in scope nor worldly in targets for utter destruction. I do expect, eventually, the takedown and remaking of “America” into the image and likeness of US, Inc., now in receivership, soon to rise as might a Phoenix, perhaps when (((they))) get around to erasing Anna Von Reitz from the memory banks of all concerned.

  6. Aren’t Western audiences tired of these cowardly creeps and their bluster or do they swallow it?

China has just launched the yuan as a ‘petro dollar’ . Thus, the US economy will no longer be subsidized by the rest of the world. After being hooked on other people’s money for 70 years, collapse is probable.

Leading economist, Carl Weinberg, managing director at High Frequency Economics, goes even further, predicting a major paradigm shift. Weinberg told CNBC last year that China will likely “compel” Saudi Arabia to abandon the petrodollar, and instead, begin trading oil in yuan—a move he says is likely to precipitate the rest of the oil market following suit and abandoning the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency.

Only world war will save the ZionUS. The quicker it starts the quicker life on Earth can start again.

    1. I don’t see how a world war would save the U.S. It seems to me that it would have the opposite effect this time around.

Speaking of world war, there are lots of people out there who believe that another world war will never happen, and I hope they’re right, but the question I have is this: Is the evil at the top going to accept defeat gracefully, or is it going to lash out in anger?

      1. Hello Harold,
World War = A resetting of debt. The “‘winner” will charge reparations to the loser. A new monetary system will come into being. A global government at the helm.

The evil at the top is bound to lash out, lest their evil become apparent to the masses.

  7. Hi Harold,
This poisoning has all the hallmarks of a Mossad false flag. Mr Putin is not so stupid.

    Who benefits?

    1. John –

      You asked:

      “Who benefits?”

‘Put-On’ benefits. He has a reason to buy and sell off-books and RAISE prices… and profits are much higher for him and his oligarch buddies.

      Partial list:

Just ONE WAY they get around sanctions:
Joint venture with Toshiba for the production of power transformers in voltage class 110-750 kV with a power rating of from 25 to 630 MVA

      1. Russian businesses are not doing well. They NEED more wars in ME.
        They need $$$$!! 🙂

The official statement of Power Machines PJSC for mass-media
        29 January 2018

Due to the inclusion of Power Machines PJSC on the sanctions list by the US Treasury Department on January 26, 2018 in alleged relation with the events in Ukraine, Power Machines states the following.

The US sanctions against Power Machines are illegal and contrary to the rules of the World Trade Organization, which includes the United States of America and Russia.

As to the formal side of the reasons for inclusion in the sanctions list, they are far-fetched and absolutely inconsistent with the reality. Power Machines, as a minority shareholder – a 35% stake, Siemens as a majority shareholder – a 65% stake, are part of the joint venture (JV) named Siemens Gas Turbine Technology. All the JV management have been nominated by Siemens, and all decisions, including conclusion of contracts, are made by Siemens representatives.

The major turbine components manufactured by JV according to Siemens’ technologies arrive from Germany. The turbines of this joint venture were shipped under the contract to Technopromexport, but later, as it turned out, in violation of the terms of the contract, these units were delivered to Crimea.

Power Machines PJSC had nothing to do with conclusion of this contract. We also did not know anything about the route for redirecting the supplies of these turbines. In this regard, the joint venture has turned to the Russian court to sue its counterparties for improper shipment of the turbines, as was widely reported in the media.

However, the US authorities filed no claims to Siemens, and it was not included on the sanctions list.

This logic does seem strange. Apparently, they believe that it’s the Russian company that should be punished even if it has nothing in common with the situation.

The statement of the US Treasury Department on the alleged public quote of the General Director of Power Machines PJSC about the support of infrastructure projects in Crimea is absolutely untrue. Power Machines representatives have never made any declarations with regard to that.

In this connection we hope that the US state departments will still take a constructive stand, sort out the situation objectively and lift the unfounded sanctions imposed on Power Machines PJSC.

Power Machines-Development is a subsidiary of Power Machines, the – LARGEST – power engineering company in Russia.

The “largest power engineering company in Russia” showed “YUGE” losses in 2017.

    2. @ John

“This poisoning has all the hallmarks of a Mossad false flag. Mr Putin is not so stupid.”

I agree. It’s definitely a “false flag”. In fact it’s a calculated insult to Russia; a taunt; a “we know that you know that we know that it’s all BS” kind of a thing.

      “Who benefits?”

When I look at the big picture here, I remember: “Judea declares war on Germany [Russia].”

      And I remember this:

“For months now the struggle against Germany [Russia] is waged by each Jewish community, at each conference, in all our syndicates, and by each Jew all over the world. There is reason to believe that our part in this struggle has general value. We will trigger a spiritual and material war of all the world against Germany’s [Russia’s] ambitions to become once again a great nation, to recover lost territories and colonies. But our Jewish interests demand the complete destruction of Germany [Russia]. Collectively and individually, the German [Russian] nation is a threat to us Jews.” — Vladimir Jabotinsky (founder of the Jewish terrorist group, Irgun Zvai Leumi) in Mascha Rjetsch, January, 1934 (also quoted in “Histoire de l’Arme’e Allemande” by Jacques Benoist–Mechin, Vol. IV, p. 303).

    3. John Kirby: This poisoning has all the hallmarks of a Mossad false flag. Mr Putin is not so stupid.

LOL: You have repeated the grave anti-Semitic canard of Jews being history’s arch poisoners of wells and my favorite “anti-Semitic”, self-hating Jew, Joe Stalin.

      Medieval accusations against Jews

See also: Antisemitic canard and Black Death Jewish persecutions

Despite some vague understanding of how diseases could spread, the existence of viruses and bacteria was unknown in medieval times, and the outbreak of disease could not be scientifically explained. Any sudden deterioration of health was often blamed on poisoning. Europe was hit by several waves of Black Death (often identified as bubonic plague) throughout the late Middle Ages. Crowded cities were especially hard hit by the disease, with death tolls as high as 50% of the population.

In their distress, emotionally distraught survivors searched desperately for an explanation. The city-dwelling Jews of the Middle Ages, living in walled-up, segregated ghetto districts, aroused suspicion. An outbreak of plague thus became the trigger for Black Death persecutions, with hundreds of Jews burned at the stake, or rounded up in synagogues and private houses that were then set aflame. With the decline of plague in Europe, these accusations lessened, but the term “well-poisoning” remains a loaded one that continues to crop up even today among anti-Semites around the world.

Walter Laqueur writes in his book The Changing Face of Anti-Semitism: From Ancient Times to the Present Day:

There were no mass attacks against “Jewish poisoners” after the period of the Black Death, but the accusation became part and parcel of antisemitic dogma and language. It appeared again in early 1953 in the form of the “doctors’ plot” in Stalin’s last days, when hundreds of Jewish physicians in the Soviet Union were arrested and some of them killed on the charge of having caused the death of prominent Communist leaders… Similar charges were made in the 1980s and 1990s in radical Arab nationalist and Muslim fundamentalist propaganda that accused the Jews of spreading AIDS and other infectious diseases.[3]

As for “Who benefits?” …. my guess is the same damn RAT CABAL that benefitted from WW1, WW2, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, The War on Drugs, The War on Terror, The War in Afganistan, The War in Iraq, The War in Lybia, The War in Syria, The War in Ukraine…. and WW3?

They just might succeed in starting WW3 if Jewish history repeats itself… but, oh my, how standards have fallen since 1914, when the West went to war over the assassination of an archduke from Austria.

He was an obscure archduke to the men who fought and died in WW1, but, nevertheless, he was an archduke all the same, and the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.

Now the West and its culture has been so degraded and dumbed-down they want us to go to war over the alleged poisoning of some insignificant and morally-suspect “Russian double-agent”?

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that Skripal is a dual Israeli citizen. BTW, the man who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in 1914 was also a dirty rotten vicious Jew.

      1. “Mr Tusk said more measures – including further expulsions – could follow in the coming days and weeks. He reiterated that the “European Council agreed with the United Kingdom Government’s assessment that it is highly likely that the Russian federation is responsible and that there is no plausible alternative explanation.””

I can think of about half a dozen far more plausible alternative explanations of what happened to Skripal and his daughter, none of which involve Russians – other than Skripal and daughter – and all of which do involve various branches of the criminal organizations masquerading as legitimate Western governments. But I do admire Tusk’s ability to spout such utter nonsense with a straight face, and without breaking into howls of laughter.

No, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find Skripal has ties to the most parasitic, racist, supremacist, expansionist sh**hole in the Middle East. It also won’t be surprising to see the US/EU milk this non-incident for all its worth, until something with a little more “shock and awe” value can be arranged.

The drum of war thunders and thunders.
It calls: thrust iron into the living.
    From every country
    slave after slave
    are thrown onto bayonet steel.
    For the sake of what?
    The earth shivers
    and stripped.
Mankind is vapourised in a blood bath
    only so
    can get hold of Albania.
    Human gangs bound in malice,
blow after blow strikes the world
    only for
    someone’s vessels
    to pass without charge
    through the Bosporus.
    the world
    won’t have a rib intact.
And its soul will be pulled out.
    And trampled down
    only for someone,
    to lay
    their hands on
    Why does
    a boot
crush the Earth — fissured and rough?
What is above the battles’ sky –
When will you stand to your full height,
    giving them your life?
When will you hurl a question to their faces:
    Why are we fighting?

  9. Porton Down Unable To Prove Novichok Was Made In Russia

In a statement by Gary Aitkenhead, the chief executive of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) at Porton Down, said that British scientists at Porton Down had not been able to definitively prove that the Novichok nerve agent which was allegedly used to poison Sergei and Yulia Skripal was made in Russia.

Aitkenhead also stated that the substance required “extremely sophisticated methods to create, something only in the capabilities of a state actor.”

He added that Porton Down was “able to identify it as Novichok, to identify that it was military-grade nerve agent.”

“We have not identified the precise source, but we have provided the scientific info to government who have then used a number of other sources.”

He further stated that establishing its origin required “other inputs”, some of them intelligence-based, that the government has access to.

Aitkenhead added: “It is our job to provide the scientific evidence of what this particular nerve agent is. We identified that it is from this particular family and that it is a military grade, but it is not our job to say where it was manufactured.”

He went on to say that there is no known antidote to Novichok, and that none was given to either of the Skripals.

Aitkenhead would not comment on whether the laboratory had developed or kept stocks of Novichok, but dismissed the suggestion from Russia that the agent used to poison the Skripals could have come from Porton Down.

“There is no way anything like that could have come from us or left the four walls of our facility,” said Aitkenhead.
