Cry [*POEM*]

CRY

By XANADU

Cry me the moon, cry me the sun
Cry me the fret and the fever
Cry, cry, cry everyone
Cry me the lost one for ever.

Lost, lost, lost is my darling
Lost in the maze of the mind
And here I am lost in yearning
For the Key I cannot find.

Thine is the kingdom, thine is the chain
Thine are the tears in the bowl
Thine is the mercy, thine the pain
Thine is the death of the soul.

  1. a general observation, in no way linked to this (privacy is a poem, too).

i take to poetry like turtle to rock-climbing, but:
—the poems i like best are the ones i (consciously) understand the least,
—next come the ones i understand perfectly,
    and disregard the ones in-between.

    1. Thank you for commenting. I’m sure LD will be pleased to know that at least one person has read her poem! And we hope you are one of those who understand it perfectly rather than not at all, which is the feeling I get from your comment.

You have been absent from our website for some time now and so you are probably unaware of what I stated in a comment here some time ago: that all LD’s poems after March 2018 are quite different to her earlier poems, in that the later poems are almost without exception “irrational”, i.e. written in a trance state, sometimes known as “automatic writing”, as if someone else were dictating the words and she was simply taking them down.

They are all written at lightening speed in pencil, unplanned and unpremeditated, in an almost indecipherable spider’s scrawl. And they are always short, with musicality taking precedence over meaning.
Or as LD says: “The meaning is in the music.”

These later poems have been triggered by PTSD and are published here only on the express advice of LD’s therapist and spiritual director, without any hope that anyone here will read them with empathy, let alone see fit to comment on them. In fact, we expect zero comments for the poems regularly published here, given that most of our readers don’t have time to read poetry and come here only for the articles.

    2. Sis, I ALWAYS read Lasha’s poems, without fail.
It is and always has been her long suit, pre-and-post 2018, it is what she is best at, while the supercharged males crowding the forum are the weakest at this pursuit requiring finer granulation of psychic sight.

Regarding the direction by her therapist, I hope very much that the choice was a correct one, these are tricky matters.
Her vulnerability segues into her unique strength and I hope the said therapist is more of a helper than a guide, without disturbing the natural flow of this Möbius strip—these issues are of significance and sensitivity beyond mere existential.
Likewise my ability to grasp the meaning(s) of her poem(s)—I dread perfection because it is a static concept exclusive of radiant connective tissue nearby and far, whereas I would rather go for wider inclusion at the cost of perfectly clear but limited comprehension.
      She will know what I mean—PERFECTLY 🙂
Xanadu, if you click on my avatar, there is my choice of a visual poem done in your favorite chiaroscuro style.

NB: Sister Monica, I also read your previous posts directed at me and understood the principle—perfectly this time. Far be it from me to wish anyone to fall into my political or ideological orbit, just as I will fiercely resist falling into anyone else’s. But I consider ad hominem the lowest form of non-physical bestiality and will respond in great wrath if someone brings that radioactive torch near me.
Meanwhile, constructive criticism is not only accepted but welcome because if true, it gives me an opportunity to better myself, which is the object of the game of life.
And I think I have a pretty well honed radar to tell the two behaviors apart.

Well, I empathize with you completely. The ad hominem attack is all the worse if it contains outright LIES and character assassination. This happened to LD recently, as you know, on the Truthseeker site. Some Jewish (???) troll there accused Lasha of belonging to “a privileged family of Jewish overloads in India” who had committed “genocide and robbery” in India on a large scale and had been behind the Bengal famine and other atrocities against the oppressed Indians. No need for proof or evidence. Pure defamation.

Thankfully, you have received no ad hominem comments from anyone here recently, except from ONE source who remains in Spamblinka and has directed several extremely vicious comments at you. These include attacks on Admin for refusing to publish his vicious comments. Refusal to publish vile abuse and defamation is classed as “censorship”.

I won’t reveal this malefactor’s name, but here is one such comment you may be able to take without getting too angry. I only publish it (verbatim) because it’s the least vicious of a whole slew of similarly nasty comments by a person who needs to be kept in a padded cell:

RE : My reply to Brownhawk in Spam

knowbro put pressure on you to CENSOR my reply to Brownhawk, right, because my reply to Brownhawk includes TRUTHFUL information about Stalin that doesn’t exactly flatter Stalin and if one doesn’t flatter Stalin that gets woebro’s panties tied up in knots irritating his twat, right? Yes I’m right — and you know it. You and lobro are TWO b*tches, but U2 already know that, never mind. *grin*

This loonie’s comments addressed to Lasha are, believe me, far more vicious than any addressed to you. They include withering contempt and mockery for every poem she writes as well as regular references to Lasha enjoying sexual intercourse with horses.

I have never in all my life had to deal with a psychopath so mindlessly vicious as this. Why ADMIN puts pressure on us to publish his occasional comments, instead of blocking him completely as Mark Glenn did, is a mystery to me.

    1. That was the quasi personal version.
      This is personal..

Lasha, please excuse me if I’m over doing it again, but I like this one better. (Toronto, 1970)
Lobro, is that you I see through the haze!

      1. @ Saki

Yes, you are right. The reference is to Munch’s painting.

The agonized figure in the foreground, we are told by an art critic, “is reduced to a garbed skull in the throes of an emotional crisis.” Munch was severely depressed when he did that painting. He writes:

“For several years I was almost mad… You know my picture, ‘The Scream?’ I was stretched to the limit — nature was screaming in my blood…. After that I gave up hope ever of being able to love again.”

This is exactly LD’s position now, it seems, as most of her poems are the result of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with its melancholy and mood swings between elation and deepest depression.

      2. could be/could have been Homer.
I witnessed her act twice and one time was at the Varsity Blues Revival if memory serves.
Toronto was a popular venue for big names back then and the U of T’s Varsity stadium—long gone now—one frequent choice. Others, also in memoriam were the Rockpile or Masonic Temple, Massey Hall, and some big taverns downtown such as Colonial, Grossman’s and the Riverboat.
It was a busy time and a good time to be a mindless longhair kid.

Moreover, I vaguely remember that that Munch’s iconic painting may have been on the jacket of some LP from back then—existential agony never goes out of fashion, nor does the Dark Night of the Soul, like the puncture in a tire going round and round until the progressive deflation brings the vehicle to a stop.

What happened to Pat‽ Must say I am a bit concerned …

      3. What happened to Pat‽ Must say I am a bit concerned …

So am I. I hope he’s just taking a temporary rest.
Anyway, we all wish him well and hope he returns soon.
        He’s a fighter!

      4. Lobro, yes Pat the stalwart straight shooter is missed. Pat’s prodigious production of facts, figures and opinion, like it or not, agree or not, is Bigly Appreciated.

ADMIN: Sorry Homer, your link was defective so I had to delete it.
