Russia’s Policy of Peace is Encouraging War

The author of this article argues that Putin, far from defending his Iranian ally against the US and Israel, is turning a blind eye to US and Israeli attacks on Iranian interests in Syria. This will soon give the US and Israeli warmongers, he suggests, the confidence to launch a full-scale attack on Iran itself and attempt to drive Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Result: game, set and match to Israel. Is this assessment correct, and is Putin secretly in cahoots with the US and Israel?  DISCUSS.

According to Paul Craig Roberts, Russia is failing to protect Iran’s interests in Syria. The Israelis want to drive Iranian forces protecting Syria out of Syria and they also want to drive Hezbollah out of Lebanon. The result would be the first steps to a Greater Israel in the Middle East.

Are Putin and Netanyahu in cahoots to control Syria between them?

Fact, Wishful Thinking Or Propaganda?

Sourced from Information Clearing House
“In Syria, Putin and Netanyahu Were on the Same Side All Along.
Putin is ready to ditch Iran to keep Israel happy and save Assad’s victory.”

Big buddies . . . shaking hands over a good deal?

May 31, 2018. As Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman meets his Russian counterpart Thursday in Moscow to discuss the arrangements for keeping Iran and its proxies away from Israel’s border with Syria, they will be merely formalizing an understanding between the two countries that has long been in the making.

It should have been clear from the beginning of the Russian involvement in Syria nearly three years ago that, when forced to choose between Israel and Iran, Vladimir Putin would come out on Israel’s side. Read More

Taking the World to the Brink of Annihilation

By Rick Sterling

Western neoconservatives and hawks are driving the international situation to increasing tension and danger. Not content with the destruction of Iraq and Libya based on false claims, they are now pressing for a direct US attack on Syria.

As a dangerous prelude, Israeli jets flying over Lebanese airspace fired missiles against the T4/Tiyas Airbase west of Palmyra. Read More

The Saker — ‘The US has lost the war in Syria and is now in bed with terrorists!’

September 28, 2017. Here is the original and full transcript of my recent interview with Sputnik (by email). Due to the decision by the Sputnik editors to remove parts of my replies which I consider to be essential, I have taken the painful decision not to grant any further interviews to Sputnik. — The Saker

The Latest Escalation in Syria — What Is Really Going On?

Written for the Unz Review

By now most of you have heard the latest bad news of out Syria: on June 18th a US F/A-18E Super Hornet (1999) used a AIM-120 AMRAAM (1991) to shoot down a Syrian Air Force Su-22 (1970). Two days later, June 20th, a US F-15E Strike Eagle shot down an Iranian IRGC Shahed 129 drone. The excuse used each time was that there was a threat to US and US supported forces. Read More

WARNING! — Russia Must not Agree to the Partition of Syria

Regarding the following: any reference to the United States or any other Western country should be viewed as bounded within 6 brackets. What follows is a reasoned attempt to prepare some psychological tools of argument just in case Russia really does betray Syria and posters pop up to defend such a betrayal on this site.

West of the Euphrates

“Moscow said it would treat any plane from the US-led coalition
flying WEST of the Euphrates river as a potential target.”

Why not EAST of the Euphrates?
Why is Syria to be defended only on ONE side and not on the other?

US charged with de facto invasion of Syria and openly supporting Isis

The Trump administration is now openly supporting Isis and bombing Assad’s troops in Syria on behalf of Israel. This is what a new PressTV report shockingly claims. (See 5-minute video below). If Trump is one of the good guys, as is still being argued by a rapidly diminishing number of diehard Trump supporters, why is he escalating tensions in Syria and inviting a major confrontation with Russia? It’s WMD All Over Again. Why Don’t You See It?

By Peter Hitchens

Assad says, ‘”We are not responsible.”

April 05, 2017.    Actually knowing something, remembering history or having experience of the world is becoming a disadvantage. How much easier it would be to join in with the flow of opinion about Syria, to listen happily to, and read contentedly, media reports on the subject. As it is, I feel something close a physical pain as I do this. Putin Ups the Ante: Ceasefire Sabotage Triggers Major Offensive in Aleppo

By Mike Whitney

“Syria is the summation of all the errors
of a dysfunctional empire collapsing upon itself.”

The attack on Deir Ezzor was a flagrant act of betrayal. For the first time in the five year-long war,  US warplanes targeted an SAA military outpost killing 62 Syrian regulars. The surprise attacks — which lasted for the better part of an hour and were followed by a coordinated ground assault by members of ISIS – were intended to torpedo the fragile ceasefire agreement and send a message to Moscow that the US was prepared to achieve its strategic objectives in Syria whether it had to launch direct attacks on defenders of the regime or not. Russian Fighter Jets Intercept Israeli Fighters in Southern Syria

Is this article a fake? Initially, we thought it might well be an attempt at disinformation. It is sourced here from an Iranian site called Alalam. However, a similar story appears on Israeli Ynetnews, so the Israelis are not denying the story. The difference between the two accounts is that, in the first case, the Israeli planes are intercepted in Syria, whereas in the second case they are intercepted in Lebanon.
